COURSES
The courses offered by the LAHDE laboratory are part of the Process Engineering study program and cover topics in heat transfer, cooling, and transport phenomena at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Opinions of some students who have worked with us
At the LAHDE laboratory, I work through the student service on a prototype of a magnetocaloric cooler. The work is interesting and dynamic, as the prototype is constantly being modified and improved based on new findings. Currently, I am testing the impact of flow rate and pressure on cooling efficiency, as well as examining the corrosion properties of the magnetocaloric material used.
In the second semester of the first year of my master’s studies, I arranged to do an internship at LAHDE through our faculty. I’m working on a numerical model for heat transfer analysis. I find the work both enjoyable and challenging, as it allows me to apply my theoretical knowledge – such as from Numerical Mathematics courses – to solving real-world problems. It requires persistence, analytical thinking, and focus, since each problem has its own pitfalls and there’s no solution manual like in coursework.
I worked at the laboratory both as a student employee and for my bachelor’s thesis, and the team is very friendly. The student work schedule is highly flexible, which is very useful for students, as it allows them to create a schedule that supports ongoing studies. I gained a basic understanding of how heat pumps work, beginner-level programming skills in LabView, a lot of knowledge in electrical engineering, and various other useful skills that you pick up along the way. I recommend that students stay curious, as the lab is full of knowledge and the staff is always happy to help.
