Our main activities and research interests concern four different, but interrelated pillars:
We are engaged in applied research and development of heat pumps, household appliances, heat exchangers, and other types of processes, devices and systems, related to thermal engineering. We also do planning and optimization of large scale systems, such are new generations of district cooling and heating systems.
The laboratory covers pedagogically the basic area of Heat and Mass transfer, Transport phenomena, Refrigeration, Heat pump, Energy supply, and Heat exchangers. We provide students with topics for seminars and bachelor and master theses, or doctoral studies, which are, due to their interdisciplinarity, also suitable for all fields of studies at the faculty.
Researchers of the LAHDE laboratory of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, have developed an open-source tool for 1D modeling of thermal control circuits, TCCbuilder.
On October 25, 2024, the MAGCCINE project was successfully launched with an introductory Kick-Off meeting.
Chillventa 2024, took place in Nuremberg, bringing together leading companies in the cooling industry.
