Magnetokalorično hlajenje
Kratek opis
- Zmožnost hlajenja z uporabo kaloričnih materialov v porozni strukturi ter magnetnih materialov.
- Uporaba v hladilnih vitrinah, hladilnikih vina, toplotnih črpalkah, itd.
Obseg našega dela
- Razvoj in optimizacija magnetokaloričnih prototipov
- Numerična in eksperimentalno optimizacija ključnih elementov sistema (AMR, magneti, hidravlični sistemi, prenosniki toplote).
V našem laboratoriju smo močno osredotočeni v razvoj novih, alternativnih tehnologij hlajenja, katerih osnova je fizika trdne snovi, predvsem t.i. feroičnim hlajenjem. Naše raziskave so usmerjene v razvoj in optimizacijo magnetokaloričnih, elektrokaloričnih in elastokaloričnih hladilnih naprav. Na področju kaloričnih tehnologij predstavlja naš laboratorij enega vodilnih v svetu.
Eden trenutno poglavitnih projektov je razvoj magnetokaloričnega hladilnika vina, ki ga razvijamo v sodelovanju s podjetjem Gorenje. Prednost našega prototipa pred ostalim stanjem tehnike je v tem, da smo uspeli učinkovito aplicirati popolnoma statičen vir magnetnega polja, ki pa je poleg tega tudi izdelan brez uporabe redkih zemelj. Učinkovito delovanje nam omogoča posebna krmilna elektronika, ki smo jo razvili v našem laboratoriju, s katero lahko regeneriramo določen del magnetne energije, vložene za delovanje naprave. Rezultate delovanja takšne magnetne strukture z regeneracijo magnetne energije smo objavili v priznani znanstveni reviji Applied Energy.
Leta 2015 smo pri priznani mednarodni založbi Springer izdali knjigo z naslovom Magnetocaloric Energy Conversion: From Theory to Applications, ki je ena prvih in trenutno edinih na podorčju magnetokalorične pretvorbe energije.
