Applications on Magnetocaloric Materials: Encyclopedia of Smart Materials
In the extensive Encyclopedia of Smart Materials (Reference Module in Materials Science and Materials Engineering) a paper on Applications on magnetocaloric materials was published. The paper is available here.
Abstract:
The first market applications of magnetocaloric materials were in low-temperature physics and magnetic resonance imaging. These important applications, however, represent just a small fraction of the real potential of these materials. The intensive research activities over the past two decades have demonstrated the applicability of magnetocaloric materials in cooling and heat pumping, in energy harvesting, in thermal management, and in the future of medicine. This article presents an overview of the various existing and future applications that are based on magnetocaloric materials, as well as guidelines for future research and development in some specific areas.
