Laboratory for Refrigeration and District Energy Full of fresh ideas

Scientific research

Our main activities are modeling, conceptual design and optimization of different types of heat exchangers. Due to the intensive technological development in recent years, we have focused also on different activities in the field of micro heat transfer and fractal structures. In addition to conventional methods of heat transfer, we have recently been focusing on the field of heat transport through the use of thermal control elements.

Industrial solutions

We are engaged in research and development mainly in the field of energy and environmental engineering. We model processes and results with verified measurements on laboratory models and on real systems. In addition to the research and development in the domain of conventional refrigeration processes and systems, we carried out numerous research projects in the area of ​​district heating and cooling, and in the domain of caloric cooling technologies.

For students

The laboratory covers pedagogically the basic area of ​​Heat and Mass transfer, Transport phenomena, Refrigeration, Heat pumps and Energy supply, Heat exchangers and Energy distribution systems. We provide students with topics for seminars and bachelor and master theses, which are, due to their interdisciplinarity, also suitable for all fields of studeis at the Faculty.
